Have a told ya'll that my wedding was perfect!?! It was, I couldn't have asked for a prettier day and everyone had fun. I was worried having a day wedding that no one dance, but WE DANCED! here are pictures of our Wedding Favors, Cookbooks. Everyone loved the idea and for our 5 year anniversary we are going to do a second addition. It has come in handy since a lot of everyone favorite holiday recipes are all included - My sister said at thanksgiving "This was a great idea, I only needed this cookbook this year and not all five out on my counter" If you have the time it really is a great, usable favor. I used a company called G&R Publishing they were very reasonably priced and they had a super fast turn around.

Christmas is here!!!! I love the holidays. I love gift giving! Yesterday one of my favorite Christmas songs came on the radio while at work. I of course explained it was one of my favorites, in which my co worker replied - "these are a few of my 10,000 favorite things". I guess I have a lot of favorite things- what is wrong with that? SO I decided to start to post some of my favorite things through the holidays. They might make great gifts for your wedding party... or something your groom can get for you!

I think one of the most stressful parts of my wedding planning experience was picking our photographer. I love pictures! It was hard to put a price on our pictures, something that will last forever. I was really happy with our photographer, but still check out photographers. I just love looking at peoples wedding and engagement pictures. I even have the itch to try to convince my husband to do a bridal portrait session as a one year anniversary gift, because I just can't get enough! Once like a Spark photography has adorable, fun, beautiful pictures. I have really enjoyed the last hour I have spent looking at their website. Check them out!

I think Birch wood is beautiful and I love these flower girl baskets and vases. I almost want to buy some of these vases for my home and some fall arrangements I have floating in my head. A lot of brides are finding new trendy alternatives to guest books. I love the idea of this Wishing Wall. A popular trend for green weddings is giving guest a tree sapling to plant after the wedding. It is a lovely idea because of the meaning behind the growth and strength or trees. Here are few of my favorites packaged. I also love the idea of not just doing a pine or spruce.. but branching out (pun intend) into other varieties.

I love the use of more organic packaging like burlap and rough paper. Also if you have a lot of out of town guest you may want to do the tubes so the travel better.

You can get trees through the Arbor Day Foundation, or check with your local Arbor group or nurseries.

Also remember there are a lot of great quotes about trees to include on your tags ;)

This past weekend while helping a bride in Alaska we put together her Blue Spruce tree favors using simple tissue paper and ribbon. (we put a few small rocks in the bottom to help establish weight for a base). I loved what she wrote on her tags.

I love the initials on the bottom of the Bride's shoes. They photograph so cute! You could glue rhinestones on your own... however I just stumbled on these peel and stick letters. They are only $3, which is well worth not having another project on your list :)

I have been on the hunt for the perfect hair "accessory". I knew I didn't want a tiara, though I'm a princess at heart. I opted instead for a brooch or hair clip since I plan on wearing my hair only half up. I started my search in bridal shops here in the city and just looking at random brooches at any store that sold them and found my options limited and not what I had in mind. I then turned my attentions to ETSY. Which has long been an addiction to mine. I started scrolling through pages and pages of hair clips and combs and then I saw it! The perfect hair clip, and though I'm usually a hands on kinda a gal, that needs to see and touch before I buy. The price was right and the store was called LuluSplendor! Lulu is my dog's name so I took it as a sign. I'm so happy I did. My hair brooch arrived today all the way from Australia! It's perfect too! YAY!

Sentimental Fool!

I'm a huge sentimental person. Most generations now do not even consider wearing their mothers wedding dress. Most are too dated and out of fashion to really be worn again.

My mother was married by the Justice of the Peace. She wore a simple Jackie O' looking suite that was cream brocade with pearl and rhinestone buttons. It has a pencil skirt and three quarter sleeve jacket.

I'm getting married in a beautiful Cathedral and I don't think it would really go with the look of the wedding... but luckily for me, it still looks very stylish and FITS, and I plan on wearing it to our wedding rehearsal. I good luck charm of a stronger and lasting marriage. Yes, my parents are still married and going on 43 years this year.

I'm so excited to be wearing her dress, a piece of history, a piece of our family!

I do have to loose just a little bit of weight! My mother had a 21 inch waste back then... so I need to slim down just a slight bit!

Fit to be Groomed...

We picked out the Tuxes this weekend! WOO HOO...another thing off the list. The Groom, Best Men, Dads, Ushers and Ring Bearer will all be wearing the same tux. The groom will be wearing a champagne colored vest and tie, while the groomsmen will be in a "latte" color vest and tie. The dads and ushers will be sticking to traditional black. I think the colors of the groom and best men will really compliment myself (the bride) and the bridesmaids. Unfortunately, I really can't find a picture of what our tuxes will look like.

It is the season for giving and if you are a bride on a budget this is a great gift, not just for the bridesmaids...but for everyone you know! I made this last year for all my girlfriends and future sister in laws and I have actually been requested to make more for christmas gifts this year! They are easy and best of all cheap! I purchased yarn from my local craft store and either doubled or even trippled the amount of yarn called for. I also love long scarves you can wrap a lot so I added a lot of extra length. These are fun to make while watching christmas movies!!! I added sparkley yarn to some, and ribbons to others. Play with the idea and have fun.

Here's a cozy yet speedy project. Cut 12 pieces of bulky-weight yarn to about 1 1/2 times the desired length of the final scarf. (We used 140-inch pieces to make an 86-inch scarf.) Divide yarn into 4 bunches of 3 strands each. Tie 2 bunches together with a square knot, leaving 6 inches of fringe at end; repeat with remaining bunches. Pin the knots to a piece of foam board. Knot inner 2 bunches of yarn together, spacing knot about 1 inch from existing knots, then knot left and right bunches together. Alternate knotting the inner bunches and the left and right ones, spacing knots evenly apart, until about 6 inches of yarn remain on the end. Finish so that final knots mirror opposite end, and trim to even the ends.

I'm a big sucker for love letters. I love cards and emails and little notes that say "I LOVE YOU". I don't get them too often from the Fiance, he is usually good for Birthday Cards and that is about it :( However I love this purse mirror that you can have personalized with a love letter. Soooooo the boutique we ordered the bridesmaid's dresses from is going out of business :( ... Which makes me sad because they were really nice. I'm anxiously awaiting January, when I'm told the girls dresses will be in. They just don't know if they will still be open and if I will be picking them up at a different bridal shop. I feel in times like these the best option is to have a plan of action incase the worst happens. So we have an alternate plan in the wings waiting.... I hope all works out. I will just sip my tea and remember "while there is tea there is hope"!

Last night the Fiance and I put up our christmas tree!!! It was a lot of fun. We got a real tree this year and the smell is amazing and brings back memories of my childhood. After the tree was up we curled up together and watched Love Actually. I really LOVE this movie. Its soo cute and I find it neat to see all the different types of love shown in the movie. Rent it!! Its great to watch anytime, but I like to watch it during the holidays best.
If the cathedral wasn't so strick I would love to pull this off!

Yes we picked a bridesmaid dress! It met all the requirements... pretty from the back, came in the right color and was under $200! We picked Watters style 9250 in FRAPPACINO!!! mmmmm these dresses are so sweet you will want to drink them up! I love the buttons trailing down the back and the slight train!

That means the wedding party (at least the girls) will have a look similar to this!

When life is changing there is a soundtrack...

In all my major life changes (which I'm only 26 so there haven't been too many) I have attend an amazing concert of classic beautiful music that touches the soul and changes it forever. Before graduating from high school my parents took me to see Andre Bocelli. It was the most touching concert I have ever been to in my life and I will never forget it. When college graduation was around the corner my mom and I went to see Sarah Brightman. I love her music and here I was again at a concert that brought tears to my eyes and changed my outlook on life... that it is beautiful, and amazing and something to be cherished. Last night I saw Sarah Brightman again with my family. The wedding is around the corner and as I sat between my mom and dad I felt so fortunate to be there and to here such beautiful music with them. I actually got chill pumbs listening to her sing the Phantom of the Opera and cried when she sang Time to Say Good Bye. A song that I realized on my way home last night was sung at every one of the concerts I have mentioned. Like a sign from God saying its time to say good bye to the past and look ahead to the beautiful future, my special song on my soundtrack of life. I hope this song will maybe touch you... I plan on having it played on my exit from the reception (since I can't afford to have a firework display to it)

Urban Chic Wedding

I can find inspiration anywhere. Honestly!! While shopping with my SUPER BRIDESMAID Jamie, we ran into Urban Outfitters. I love the store for all its vintage and unique pieces. I didn't buy anything because I'm on a wedding/Christmas budget; but boy did I see lots of things I loved. Browsing everything in the store sparked an inspiration of a wedding where almost everything came from Urban Outfitters. I know sounds crazy, but I bet there is a girl out there that could totally rock this look. It would work great in a vintage or low key ceremony reception site for a small wedding.

Yes, the head piece has feathers and includes a netted veil. I love all the jewelry and I actually tried on a pretty ivory embroidered dress that would be pretty for a simple spring wedding. I thought the LOVE frame would be cute for table numbers and the clutches... they are just adorable. You can also get great beauty products at Urban Outfitters, which are great for bridesmaid's gifts!

Warm and Cozy

Last night for my fiance's Dad's Birthday I gave a gift that I know is perfect for this time of year and going into the holidays. William and Sonoma Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows. MMMMMM. This is by far the best hot chocolate ever. I think I may need go pick up a box for my fiance and I and my parents too! HOT CHOCOLATE FOR EVERYONE!!! However after eyeing the hot chocolate box all night I thought about how nice it would be for a winter wedding party favor. You wouldn't have to go out and get the expensive William and Sonoma brand but you could make your own signature mix or buy a high quality cost effective brand and package pretty for your guest to take home and enjoy. Of course you would need a hot chocolate bar at the wedding to match the favors. Your buffet could include chocolate dipped spoons and Cinnamon and peppermint sticks and the really good home made marshmallows. You can have sprinkles and whipped cream and Carmel. Mmmm now I'm sooo in the mood for some warm hot chocolate.

Never a Bridesmaid, Now a Bride

That isn't a completely true statement. I was the Maid of Honor for my sisters wedding, but I was 12 and was more like the sister of the bride then a bridesmaid. I didn't pay for my dress or doing of the Bridesmaids duties (expect for holding the ring!). So I have found myself fretting and being very worried over the choice of the bridesmaid dress. I want the girls to like them, but I also know I can't please everyone. I'm also having a hard time asking someone to pay upwards of $200 for a dress they will wear for 10 hours. So here are my picks.

1.) My favorite through pictures. I don't have a price yet because I found it online and just love that it has a slight train and buttons. As soon as I hear back from the bridal shop I will have a better idea of if it is in price range and if it is available to try on.

2.) My second favorite. It has a slight train, and a sash and tails. I think it will look very pretty going down the isle. Its also at a fair price at $165.

3.) This one everyone loved at the shop. Its pretty, also has buttons. It doesn't have a train so that makes me like it less. It was also the higher priced dress.

4.) Is my guilty fall back dress. It isn't as pretty and a girly ballroom gown as the others. It does have a train and is on sale for $100.

Oh the choices!!! I guess I need to just make a decision and go with it!

Book Review- Other People's Weddings

I just finished reading Other People's Weddings by Noah Hawley. I adore it! It is a novel about a wedding photographer who goes on a search for the different types of love and what happens after the wedding. I found some parts funny, others extremely sad. Its witty and it puts a lot of things in perspective. Remember to laugh after the wedding. I suggest picking up this quick read for a weekend away from planning, or since the weather will slowly begin to cool, its a great read to enjoy outside as fall is fast approaching.

Product Review- Photo Finish

This past weekend my Fiance and I had our engagement pictures taken. I'm anxiously awaiting the prints (I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas). I wanted to make sure my make up was picture perfect so I purchased Smash Box Photo Finish primer. Let me just say, after walking around in the sun and heat all day, sweating- even eating and drinking, kissing and touching my face, My make stayed on perfectly. It was smooth and looked fabulous. It's More than Organization: Fun with Theme's

When most brides talk about "themes" they are usually talking about the look of the wedding. For me I have taken this a step further. For some brides with enough planning time this may work to keep you on track, and not stressed out. I have started planning my wedding by breaking down the majority of my wedding planning needs by theme. Example, this month my theme is "All Things Sweet". I will be making a decision on my bridesmaid's dresses (since my girls are so sweet to me), we will be doing cake tastings and hopefully nailing down a baker for the wedding (what is sweeter than cake?), and I should be making our reservation for our bridal suite (play on words there) and we had our engagement photo session (our pictures may turn out to be so sickening sweet you will want to gag). The idea is to focus on a few things (I would suggest a big three) but keep in mind all the little details too! Also if you finish your themed ideas early in the month you don't have to fluster your fiance or family with endless talk and research. Also doing a theme helps you focus on certain aspects and make a decision before you move on to something else, and become overwhelmed. I hope you can throw in a few themed months for your wedding planning!

Friday night my family and fiance enjoyed a Braves game at Turner Field. It has been a long time since I saw a baseball game and it was a lot of fun (even with a killer head cold). While watching the game I leaned into my fiance and mentioned that we could have had our wedding here. He looked at me like I was crazy, however in my head I think I ballpark wedding could be cute if maybe you met at the ballpark, or your first date was a braves game. Why not have your wedding be where maybe your fiance proposed on the jumbo-tron. So here is a photo board of a baseball theme wedding! Batter -up! My first wedding dissappointment

Since my Fiance is from New Orleans I want to incorporate a wedding tradition from his background. We are planning on doing the second line dance at the reception. My first thought was to have this almost mini Mardi Gra parade as our exit. I wanted to book the Seed and Feed Abominable to make for a fun, festive exit. Unfortunately they are not available on our wedding date. If you want a fun twist for your wedding music. Look into them. Just looking at these fun photos makes me very tempted to change me night.

My morning usually start like most others, I stumble from my bed still sleepy and disheveled into the bathroom. I usually start my morning routine in the light glow of the morning not ready to face anything too bright. It is usually after my first cup of morning tea that I start the process of washing my face and teeth and looking at myself in the mirror. I witnessed a miracle this morning when I looked at my face not yet washed and thought to myself "you look really pretty today". This was not a fluke, I didn't still have make up on from the night before. My face was clean and bright and 100% me and it was beautiful. How you may ask? I started 2008 off by using what some call the "miracle broth" I decided to use my Christmas bonus to purchase La Mar Radiance. (it was my first purchase of the magical line of facial potions). I choose the La Mar Radiance first because, well I was out of toner and this was a similar product and I was able to justify spending an absurd amount of money on something that I technically needed. I noticed a difference rather quickly. My skin seemed more even toned and my pores started to look smaller. I then purchased the eye concentrate, which I'm less impressed with. My most recent purchase as been the original item I have sought after for so long, the Creme La Mar. This super rich moisturizer seems like an instant luxury when you put it on. Though the price is steep I justified the purchase because I use such a small amount daily and after using it for several months it looks like it is almost a full jar. Again, I can see my skin looks fabulous! Though I still get my hormonal and dairy outbreaks around my chin, they clear up and my skin looks youthful, dewy and fresh. Treat yourself to something wonderful... if you need anymore justification think- its cheaper than a face lift!

How do you make a Tissue Dance?

Well Tissues won't be dancing at your wedding, but some guess might need a Tissue to catch their tears of joy during your ceremony- and the daddy daughter dance- and the mother son dance- and possibly the first dance- and the toast. So why not make cute tissue pouches for your guest!

To make a pouch, crease an 8 1/2-by-11-inch piece of sturdy yet pliable paper widthwise three times: 2 inches from the top, 5 inches from the top, and 1 inch from the bottom. Fold the first flap back, the second up, and the third down to make a cuff. Center a tissue on the sheet; fold back the sides where the tissue ends; weave the flaps into one another to secure. Turn over the pouch, and insert tissues. Decorate as desired: We stamped each pouch with a phrase and tucked in a phlox blossom. (from MSL)

Spaaa Me! The Grove Park

I'm totally Spoiled! No spa will ever live up the experience I had at the Grove Park. Yes I was already on cloud nine because the evening before I got engaged, but nothing will ever equal this spa. Let me just explain a little bit about why this spa is so fabulous. When you enter the spa you are actually going into a cave like structure, featuring a waterfall. Once you check in, girls are escorted the private girls only side (boys have their side too!). The private area includes a very nicely appointed locker room, with fabulous showers, vanities (with every product you could possibly need). There is a lounge area outside the locker room with mineral water, healthy snacks, a fire place, leather arm chairs, books and magazines, a private veranda with hammock, and plenty more. If you go down the stairs of the private area there is a zen garden, steam sauna (infused with eucalyptus-I will own one of these someday), a dry aromatherapy sauna, a cold pool and a hot pool. If you go into the general area you will find several shared pools. The first is a lap pool, it has a canopy of stars over it to make you feel like you aren't really doing laps, but swimming in a hidden cave. The third pool is a mineral pool with under water music (I just floated- it was heaven). The mineral pool is surrounded by two hot tubs that include two hydro-massage waterfalls, no need for a massage if you stand under one of these. There is also an outdoor pool and grill area and another whirlpool. The treatment rooms are set apart in the depth of the spa. It was so calming and quite, and the treatment room area also included fire side lounges and water features. The spa treatments are also A Class. I haven't tried them all... but I'm looking forward to working my way through the menu as the years go by. I hope you book an appointment to have a wonderful experience as close to heaven as you can get.

These pretty cyrstal tree could easily be made (best option is to take large fallen branches on your next hike or yard cleaning day. Spray paint silver (like the picture) or Gold, or leave it natural. You can purchase cyrstal in bulk online, or watch out for holiday sales and buy crystal garlands.

These trays would be pretty for a rustic wedding. Simply buy river rocks from your local hardwear or lawn care store. Find trays that match your decor, or while you are in the gardening section at your local discount store purchase pot saucers. Add votives and you have a pretty center piece.

Hump Day Honeymoon- Moorea

Moorea is a island off the main island of Tahiti and is about a 25 min trip by ferry. Known as Tahiti's sister island.

I have grown up in a house of tea drinkers. I have an antique tea cup collection and probably drink on average 5 cups of tea a day. I love finding new types of tea. It's a healthy alternative to coffee and there some unique flavors and varieties.

I really hope that every bride takes part in a traditional bridal tea. I have hosted a few and I love to give tea as favors.

Tea Forte make cute individual wrapped cone shaped tea bags. They have a wired stem (which is great to bend and hang on the side of your mug). They also make cute wedding favors if you have a cream and green color pallet. This is Oprah's favorite tea too!

I also love Mighty Leaf tea and teas from Teavana (Teavana sells loose tea so you will need to put them in tins). I used a Teavana loose tea for a bridal tea favor. I brewed a pot for the ladies then put the loose tea in small tins and wrapped in a tulle.

Atlantan Brides- A night of Bridal Luxury

I'm so sorry I haven't posted pictures or even said anything about this event.

The Atlantan Bride Magazine hosted a "Night of Bridal Luxury" at the Mason Muere arts gallery and I was asked to help with the coordination of models and the random backstage things that pop up. (like finding a ring box, calling the wedding dress companies, finding models, and watching the backstage access). I had so much fun! I love working with Terrance Shelton (my friend and fashion show director). He is an amazing gentleman. (check him out- he sings at the Buckhead Church). Anyways back to the event. The fashion show included dresses from Wedding Angels (the ladies there are super sweet), Priscilla of Boston, and Anne Barge. Being in the process of planning my wedding it was like a candy shop back stage for me! I just looked at all the BEAUTIFUL dresses and wished I had the thousands of $$$ it would take to buy them. Poor me! Also at the event was Infinite Designs, who did lighting and staging, Legendary event catering, bakers man, and many more. Guest were some of the bridal elite of Atlanta and some of the best wedding planners/catering managers in the state. Even Brian from the 4 seasons was there- he is a sweet heart! Here are some pictures from the party! (sorry that I don't have more my camera died, but as soon as my new friend I made uploads her pictures I will add a second helping!)

While at the spa yesterday (yes I want to rub that in). I was looking through a bridal magazine and saw LulaKateBridal. They have clean, crisp bridesmaid's dresses in a TON of colors. The lines are simple (but isn't that what you want?). The dresses on the website are mostly silk and taffeta, but they do have other fabrics and colors available on request ~ in case you want things really Matchy/Matchy.

My fiance has amazing tulips at his apartment complex. Here are few pictures of tulips for your wedding. They are so pretty for a spring wedding. They come in a HUGE variety of colors, everything from pastel to bright pink and orange. Tulips are traditionally know for symbolizing Perfect Love. AWE!

A lot of brides say that the bridesmaid's dress can be worn again, but any girl that has seen "27 Dresses" knows better. If you really want to take a green approach to the bridesmaids dresses avoid the bridal salons and go for the department stores cocktail dress section. The green approach is not wasting the money and resources for a one time wear only dress.

Scheduling a bridal party get together at the local Macy's or other department store to find a dress for everyone, then having drinks after can be a lot of fun. Kiss the Cook- Shower Gift Idea

Need a cute shower gift that can double as a gift and a center piece. Buy or make a cooks cake!

They are easy to make.

What you need:

15 multi-purpose wash clothes

newspaper and Tissue paper

3 decorative dish towels

kitchen twine

ribbon or raffia

kitchen tools and gadgets from your local kitchen store or items selected from the bride and groom's registry

cardboard cake round

How to make

**note** I use the news paper and tissue paper as filler inside my wash clothes to add extra support to my cake.

1.)Take wash clothes and fold and half to make the width of your cake layers.

2.)Start rolling the wash clothes (like you would a jelly roll) to start to for your cake layer. Tie first wash cloth tightly with kitchen twine.

3.) Start layering and rolling wash clothes along your center roll to continue to grow out your layer to your desired with. (Bottom layer should be the same size as the cardboard cake round)Be sure to tie twine around each attentional layer of wash clothes to make sure it stays together. If you want a really big cake, just increase the number of wash clothes. (I generally use 5 on the top layer and 10 on the bottom.)

4.) Your outter layer for both the top and bottom cake layer should be your decorative dish towels.

4.) Wrap each layer twice with ribbon or raffia to give yourself a line to attach kitchen gadgets(I usually place one line or raffia on closer to the top and one closer to the bottom)

5.) Attach kitchen items with raffia or ribbon.

6.) Add a personal touch by adding personalized recipe cards with your favorite recipe.

Gilligan and Ginger

If wedding stress is starting to get to you, take a trip to a deserted island at home. Make yourself a tropical cocktail, light some candles, put on some tropical music, and soak into a Ginger inspired spa experience.
Soak in a Ginger Bush Bath:
Ingredients:
6 cups water
2 tbsp ground ginger
1 three in piece of ginger, washed and chopped
3 large sprigs fresh rosemary (or 1 1/2 tsp dried)
1 large sprig fresh peppermint (or 1 tsp dried)
3 tbsp lemongrass, fresh or dried

1.) Boil water in a kettle
2.) Place all ingredients in a 1o inch square of cheesecloth or muslin and make a sachet by tying with string (you can also place all ingredients in a large tea ball)
3.) Place in a large bowl, pour boiled water over it and steep for 20 minutes
4.) Fill tub with warm water
5.) Pour bowl of herb water and sachet into warm bath
6.) Soak in bath for 20 min

Refresh in a Ginger Shower Scrub:
Ingredients:
3 oz sugar or sea salt
1 oz almond oil
10 drops tangerine oil
8 drops grapefruit oil
1/2 tsp fresh grated ginger

1.) Place ingredients in a glass bowl
2.) Stir into a thick paste; bring into the shower
3.) Apply then rinse

Well yes, it has been officially spring for a few weeks now but here is a spring inspired color palette. I really love the watering can if you are having a garden wedding. The composite rose is also amazing and would make a grand statement for a bridal bouquet. I hope this adds some spring to your step!

Daddy's Little Girl

Happy Hour ~ Perfect Pear Martini

The Perfect Pear Martini

INGREDIENTS:
2 parts Grey Goose La Poire
1/4 part Disaronno
1/4 part simple syrup
1/2 part lemon juice
pear slice for garnish
PREPARATION:
Place all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice.
Shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is frosted and beaded with sweat.
Strain into a martini glass.
Garnish with a pear slice.
