If you want a more organic approach to your wedding cake, or if you are like me and have an allergy La Dolce Lulu makes wonderful tasty cakes.

I haven't gotten to order any yet-but when I do I will definitely post a review.

Green Eggs and Ham

Green Eggs and Ham would match my Green and Brown color scheme I have picked out for the Engagement party, but not as appetizing as the beautiful wedding photos below.

Thinking outside the registery

Being a future bride and trying to get items for a our furture home, the bridal registry is a key step in the right direction. However some guest (I'm included) feel like they are getting the bride and groom that "something special" by going of the list. So here are a few tips.
1.) Always include a reciept (even if it is something on the registry). I was so suprised that after my girlfriends wedding she ended up with 5 grill sets.
2.) Even if you plan on picking something that isn't on the registry you should still look at what the couple has picked out. Buying the bride and groom red bed sheets when they have registered for sage and cream isn't going to be the best option.
3.) Make it sentimental- I love sentimental things, so getting antique linens or china would be something special that any bride can cherish.
4.)If you aren't going with the registy; consumable gifts are another great option. Monorgammed soaps, fruit/wine of the month packages, or a collection of olive oils can be a lovely gift.

Pew Wee to Pew Bows

This weekend I went on the hunt to find the "Perfect" church for our wedding. I visited a beautiful church The Cathedral of Christ the King. It is magnificent and our number one option at this time for our ceremony. However while I was looking at the church (about an our before someone's wedding) I noticed the brides Pew Bows already in place. They were pointless... here is this beautiful stone church with amazing stain class windows and a breath taking alter and stupid pew bows. They were not needed and they didn't help the space at all in fact I think they cheapen the look of the ceremony. They were simple- what I like to call "funeral ribbon" (the plastic "satin" ribbon that frays at the slightest touch) and 3 pale roses. I'm sure the bride spent upwards of $500 to have these pew bows. Let the Ceremony be about YOU and your Groom. If you are getting married in a gorgeous church- let it be a gorgeous church.

Look at the picture below. In this picture the first thing you see if the beautiful ceiling of the church- next the pew bows .... they last thing you notice is the couple! Shameful!

I do have a few exception to pew bows.... I like them if you are having an outdoor wedding because they do create a continued feel of the ceremony and brings things together.

Also if you do need to disguise a not so pretty church floral arrangements placed in the church can make it look better- but that requires MORE than just pew bows.

Engagment Party Invitations

I just love the boarding pass invitations that a lot of brides are using for destination weddings. Since I am getting married in town (currently- I'm crazy and my plans may change). I decided to make "Boarding Pass to Love" invitations for the Engagement party my sister and mom are throwing. Here are pictures- sorry they aren't very good quality. I will try to take some more and re post. My camera battery was dying.
I just used MicroSoft Word for all the printing. The Brown (Bronzed) paper and Lime Green paper are from Michaels. To make the perforations on the boarding pass we used our sewing machine, and to make the "bar codes" I used the draw feature in word and then made the lines different widths. They are so cute- the pictures don't do them justice.

Cake time again

So when it is your one year anniversary are you going to take one bite of you wedding cake or eat the whole piece? Take the advice of Ron Ben Isreal and you may be eating the whole cake!

~ Wrap your cake with two layers of plastic wrap and then two layers of aluminum foil. (making sure air is not able to reach the cake)

~Place cake in the refridgerator over night or for 24 hours. (this makes the cake solid and brings the whole cake to the same tempature)

~Place cake in the back of the freezer (you do not want the cake in area where warmer air or tempature change can affect it)

~2 days prior to your anniversary take the cake out of the freezer and let it defrost in the refridartor

~the day of your anniversary place the cake on the kitchen counter and let it come to room tempature

My fiance and I love to visit the North Georgia Wine country during the weekends in the fall and spring. The rolling appalachin hills are beautiful with their fall foliage and in the spring the mountain laurel, and dog woods are blooming. It is simply stunning. Happy Hour ~ Pomegrante Martini

Since it is almost 5 o'clock I couldn't think of any better way of starting the weekend off; then with a cocktail. Incorporate this Pomegrante Martini into your wedding drink menu. It's my favorite!!

Pomegrante Martini

2 oz PAMA Pomegrante Liqeuer

1 oz Vodka

1/2 oz Triple Sec

Place all ingriendents in a shaker over ice. Shake and serve in a chilled Martini glass with a swirl of orange rind.

It's a Gray Day

It is a gray day outside in Atlanta so I thought about a grey color schemed wedding. A gray wedding could either be very modern or very traditional. Here are some gray wedding photos.

Let them eat cake!

As a future bride with an allergy to wheat; one of my big task for the big day is finding a wedding cake that I can eat. However I also need to find one that my guest will want to eat too, and for any of you that have ever tried to make or even eat a gluten free cake you will know it is short of the wonderful flavors of your traditional flour cake. I did find a little gem here in the city...Metrotainment Bakery!!!! They have a wide variety of cakes and they can make pretty much ANY of them gluten free.

For my birthday my fiance purchased their Gluten Free Italian Cream cake. The Mascarpone Rum icing I could live off of; it was so yummy and the cake was huge! (It also freezes very well)

Honeymoon Hump Day

Happy Wednesday everyone; to honor "Hump Day" here is a beautiful honeymoon idea for you.


Little Palm Island Resort and Spa!!! It looks like a tropical paradise (maybe because it is). It's located right off the florida keys, a secluded island only accessable by boat. Everything is included in your stay and they have wonderful Spa options to make the honeymoon even sweeter. You can have a private dining table over looking the water as well. They have only a few cabanas available on this tiny island, so you will have plenty of privacy.

A charmed life

Charm braceletts are a cute and traditional gift for a flower girl or juniors bridesmaid. I think this is an espicially great idea if that role is filled by a sibling, cousin, or niece. The bride then has an option to continue to grow the bracelet over the years.

Juicy Couture has really cute charm bracelts and charms. They are avialble at high end in department stores or their website.

I also like the Troll Bead charm braclettes. They are more modern but still have a classic charm. They are more artistic and would be better for some one a little older (or some one growing up too fast!). These little beads are stacked and added to tell a story. The website offers a lot of different colors and designs so you can create a bracelet that matches the colors and look of your wedding.

Wild about Orchids

I have been obsessed with Orchids. The Atlanta Botanical Gardens has a wide variety of exotic orchids in their conservatory (which by the way you can rent for you event!). They come in so many beautiful colors and I love the bouqets that utilize the length and airiness of the orchids and their natural beauty in floral arrangements. Just look at these beautiful flowers. I think any of the flowers pictured below would make gorgeous brides maide boquets against navy dresses.
